GLS Bank
How we helped Germany's most sustainable bank communicate its products and services.
GLS Bank has been recognised as Germany's most sustainable bank, as well as the best bank for gender equality, transparency and climate protection. This says a lot about their values, their ambitions and the quality of their offering – and makes them a shining exception in an otherwise purely profit-driven financial sector. But being different also means having to explain yourself. For several years now, we have been helping GLS Bank communicate its products, services and their impact in a way that is both compelling and easy to understand.
Finance can be complex — but it doesn't have to feel that way. For GLS Bank, we produced a series of animated explainer videos that break down key financial topics into clear, engaging narratives. From "What is a fund?" to more nuanced concepts, each video is crafted to educate without being too overwhelming, using motion and visual storytelling to guide the viewer with ease. The result is content that builds understanding and trust — for first-time customers and experienced investors alike.
The GLS wooden bank card is more than a payment method — it's a statement. Made from sustainable wood, it brings the values of GLS Bank into everyday life in the most tangible way possible. We developed the full communication around the card: from the landing page that introduces it to new "Girokonto" customers, to ads that bring it to life across channels. The goal was to almost create a haptic experience and make sustainability feel desirable and concrete — not just a feature, but a reason to choose differently.

Investing with purpose means understanding the impact behind every decision. For GLS Bank, we developed a series of assets covering their fund offerings — from a clear overview of available funds to individual detail pages that break down performance, risk, and returns. At the heart of this was the visualisation of impact – in the form of a so-called "impact chain" and a scoring system that makes the different offerings comparable to one another. Alongside this, we designed a communication strategy that makes the social and ecological impact of each fund tangible and legible for the reader. A dedicated impact landing page goes one step further, showing customers exactly how their investment with GLS Bank creates real change in the world — financially, socially, and ecologically.

The new year is the most important moment in the banking calendar — a time when people reflect, make decisions, and open new accounts. Over the years, we've developed multiple new year campaigns for GLS Bank, each one designed to connect with new customers at exactly the right moment. Visually bold and strategically considered, the campaigns communicate the GLS Bank difference — sustainable, transparent, values-driven — in a way that feels fresh, relevant, and motivating every year.
